<description><![CDATA[ <br><p><img src="http://www.profilecommunication.com/assets/blog_images/shire5.jpg" title="" alt="" align="right" style="margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; " />VISITORS to the Spring Show this weekend will get the chance to meet three shire horses that appeared in the Hollywood blockbuster War Horse.<br>	</p><br><p>Dave Lawless will be bringing Boy, Harvey and Comet to the Shire Horse Societys event on the East of England Showground.</p><br>	<br><p>"It willbe a unique opportunity to meet these horses, which have been directed by Steven Spielberg,” said Dave.</p><br>	<br><p>"It is certainly a talking point, but at the Spring Show all the horses are an amazing sight to behold.”</p><br>	<br><p>The Spring Show opens on Friday at noon and runs through the weekend. It is the largest gathering of shire horses in the world with more than 200 horses expected, including several from Europe.</p><br>	<br><p><span lang="EN-US">Other attractions at the show include Grand Arena events, a Victorian funfair, trade stands, dog agility demonstrations and a vintage tractor display</span>.</p><br>	<br><p><span lang="EN-US"></span></p><br>	<br><p>Dave runs Waldburg Shires with Elspeth Ross and at the Spring Show their horses – which draw the Lord Mayor of Londons Coach in the Lord Mayors Parade each November – will be stabled in Row M.</p><br>	<br><p>Earlier this year Dave and Elspeth watched proudly on opening night as the horses starred in War Horse. <description><![CDATA[ <img align="right" src="http://www.profilecommunication.com/assets/blog_images/DELAMERE-1.jpg" title="delamere tree huggers" alt="delamere tree huggers" style="margin-left: 10px;" />DELAMERE Forest is to host a world record attempt for the most people hugging trees at once.<br /><br><br /><br>The Forestry Commission needs at least 350 people to help set the mark for the ‘Largest Tree Hug at the forest in Cheshire on September 11.<br /><br><br /><br>World record rules state that participants will have to hug a tree for a minute. Only two people will be allowed to hug each tree and their arms will not be allowed to touch.<br /><br><br /><br>"It will be a symbolic way for people to show their love and support for their forests,” said Jeni West, Delamere Forest Ranger.<br /><br><br /><br>"This is a great way for anybody to help break a world record, but families can also combine it with a day out in the forest.”<br /><br><br /><br>Delameres world record attempt will mark International Year Of Forests and organisers will have to video and photograph those taking part in order to prove to Guinness judges that they successfully passed the test.<br /><br><br /><br>A series of events are being held at forests across the country, but only Delamere is hosting a world record attempt.<br /><br><br /><br>In recent weeks visitors to the forest have seen posters on trees inviting them to ‘Hug me.<br /><br><br /><br>But the idea of ‘tree hugging is not new. It became famous in the 1970s after women in a village in India used the symbolic gesture to protect local trees from being chopped down.<br /><br><br /><br>The Forestry Commission simply want the world record attempt to show how much the British public love and support forests.<br /><br><br /><br>Pam Warhurst, Forestry Commission Chair, said: "The world record attempt for the largest tree hug is a fun way for people to get involved with the Forestry Commission and share their love for trees and the environment.”<br /><br><br /><br>Would-be record breakers are being asked to pre-register on the website www.forestry.gov.uk/hug however, they can just turn up on the day.<br /><br><br /><br>Supervisors are also needed on the day. Please email jeni.west@forestry.gsi.gov.uk if you can help<br /><br><br /><br>Anyone taking part on September 11 will be given a wristband and a small wooden medal to commemorate the occasion.<br /><br><br /><br>Other events on the day – between 10.30am and 4pm – include guided nature walks, organised cycle rides, nursery tours, trade stands, competitions, quizzes and much more.<br /><br><br /><br>To take part in the tree hug make sure you are at Whitefield Car Park by 1.15pm and go to the registration marquee. <description><![CDATA[ <p><table align=right><br>	<br><tbody><br>		<br><tr><br>			<br><td><img style="MARGIN-LEFT: 10px" title="Abbie Tyson" alt="Abbie Tyson" align=right src="http://www.profilecommunication.com/assets/blog_images/Abbi3.jpg" /><br /><br>				</td><br>		</tr><br>		<br><tr align="center"><br>			<br><td><br /><br>				<br /><br>				</td><br>		</tr><br>	</tbody><br></table><p><p><span style="FONT-SIZE: 8pt"><strong>ONE of Britain's young Olympic hopefuls is helping to organise a community games event in Stafford.</strong></span></p><p><p><span style="FONT-SIZE: 8pt">Sprinter Abbi Tyson, 22, is in the 100m trials for the London 2012 games and is teaming up with Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH) to organise the Meadow Games, in Penkside, on August 4.</span></p><p><p><span style="FONT-SIZE: 8pt">The event will take place on Meadow Road and include a variety of activities such as dance, arts and crafts, a mobile skate park and taster sessions from local sports clubs.</span></p><p><p><span style="FONT-SIZE: 8pt">"These games are inspired by the London 2012 Olympics and our aim is to get out and engage with the local community to promote health and wellbeing,” said Abbi, a health support officer for Stafford Borough Council.</span></p><p><p><span style="FONT-SIZE: 8pt">Abbi, who grew up in Stafford, runs for Birchfield Harriers and has qualified for the trials for London, took on her role with the council to help spread the message about keeping fit and healthy and hopes her efforts will inspire others.</span></p><p><p><span style="FONT-SIZE: 8pt">The Meadow Games will be another opportunity to pass on that message and also give local residents the chance to take part in a consultation on how the area can be developed for all members of the community to enjoy.</span></p><p><p><span style="FONT-SIZE: 8pt">SARH and Stafford Borough Council have provided funding for a mobile skate park, zumba equipment and marquees at the event.</span></p><p><p><span style="FONT-SIZE: 8pt">"The Games will be aimed at all ages and sporting abilities,” said Pam Smith, Customer Participation Officer for SARH. There will be a massive strain on those agencies providing debt advice at a time when grants and support to those agencies has been severely reduced.”<br /><br><br /><br>Other measures introduced as of April 1 include:<br /><br><br /><br>&#9679; Ending the maximum &pound;15 weekly Housing Benefit excess that some customers can receive under the Local Housing Allowance arrangements,<br /><br><br /><br>&#9679; Removing the five bedroom Local Housing Allowance rate so that the maximum level is for a four bedroom property<br /><br><br /><br>&#9679; Reducing all Local Housing Allowance rates so that about 3 in 10 properties for rent in the area should be affordable to people on Housing Benefit rather than every 5 in 10 properties as now,<br /><br><br /><br>&#9679; Introduction of New Homes Bonus scheme to incentivise councils to build – the Government will match the council tax collected on new homes for the first six years.<br /><br><br /><br>Bob added: "We all know were in challenging times and I think deep down most would agree the previous systems could have done with an overhaul.<br /><br><br /><br>"Our short term challenges are to support as much as we can those people making the transition under the new arrangements to be living in the right places for them and to be able to work through and manage their finances.<br /><br><br /><br>"KHT will be working to provide the right homes in the right places and a range of tenures to suit what people want and can afford."<br> <p><a href='http://www.profilecommunication.com/blog/e/v/22/and%23039%3Btenants-facing-tough-times-aheadand%23039%3B--warns-housing-chief'>Comments (0)</a><p> ]]></description><category>Social Housing</category>
